CD ReviewsMy introduction to Chet Baker Henry Cooper | Atlanta, GA | 05/22/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "I became a fan to Chet since day 1 (1997 or '98) and this was the 1st CD I got introduced back then while checking it out @ the same library I told ya 'cross Fulton County, GA.
He was definitely one of my favorite trumpet players or favorite musicians I'll say 'cuz he's got the talent and the skills like I have back in the 7th grade playing the trumpet. I'd been reading up on him from bios, to websites, to reviews on him, to movies, to music concerts, TV especially his memoir As Though I Have Wings which I read which was good. His legacy will still live on this album to the fullest just as long it doesn't goes away. Special guests incl. the late Paul Desmond (R.I.P.), the late Tony Williams (R.I.P., I thinked he passed back in '95 or '97 not sure 'bout that), Ron Carter, Kenny Barron, Hubert Laws, Mike Brecker (bro. of trumpeter/sidekick/session musician/producer/solo act/guest soloist or performer Randy Brecker who originally formed the Brecker Bros. back then). Man that's a long list. Need I say more? Most standout songs are: The Best Thing for You, I'm Getting Sentimental Over You/I Changed, Oh You Crazy Moon (my favorite), If U Can See Now and especially the Spanish-Latin flavored El Morro (you can forget about that one, reminds me of "Malaguena")." |
