"well where to begin. this is part and parcel of the 4 disc set live in 1954-56. baker is heard at his historical peak before his foray into drugs an d vocals. while not as tranquil, fluid and luminescent as the italian sessions, nevertheless this is good solid cool jazz that he absolutely smokes on. sounds effortlessly dynamic full and lively in the quartet format and as the fifth member, the audience is very interactive. russ freeman is solid lyrical and flowing effortlessly in the same yet another dimension as the other bandmates. high points for the achingly beautiful ballads, lullaby of the leaves,my old flame, the wind, and ...everything as well as the (zing) are miraculous, deft, moving arrangements. buy it you will not b edisappointed if your are a fan an dif not open your mind. i see it is now discontinued by the manufacturer. happy hunting ... my favorite part of sublime jazz, the chase and the catch of the reasearch and attainment of the music."
