"I would invite you to also read my review for "Top Ten Baritones & Basses, Vol. II" since it contains my basic views on this collection as well. Both collections are well worth getting and highlight some of the very best low male voices in the past 40 years. This CD has some of the most familar arias (Rossini's Figaro's, "Largo", and Mozart's Figaro's, "Non piu andrai", for instance)written for the baritone and bass as well as some perhaps lesser known to American ears, or casual opera fans,(the "Death of Boris" from Mussorgsky's "Boris Godunov" is a wonderfully emotional piece).I have played both these cd's numerous times and still marvel at the beauty and power of the voices represented here. I highly recommend both of these fine collections as worthy additions to any opera fan's collection."
