A bit of an odd collection, but still nice to listen to

"This CD is part of a series, all of which share the same comments. They are collections of songs intended to represent a particular year, but in many cases, the version of a song that they give is neither the most popular version in the UK (these are British-produced) nor the most popular version in the US. What governs the selection is rather a matter of rights; these were produced by the British company EMI (even if marketed by another company) and only recordings made for EMI and its US subsidiary, Capitol, are included. In some cases, this will mean a familiar version of a song; in others, a version I haven't heard before. But most of the unfamiliar versions sound pretty good, and I'd rather get another version of a familiar song than yet another copy of a version I already have in multiple copies already. So I'm happy to have this in my CD collection.
This series is, I believe, out of print at the moment and only available from Amazon Marketplace (third party) dealers. So grab it if you're interested in this era; you'll not find many copies available."
