More Than Hurdy-Gurdy

"I'm so weary of reading the wretched one-star review of this fine album each time I check out Amazon for a new Jez Lowe CD, I feel the need to scribble a quick retort.
Jake Walton does indeed play hurdy-gurdy, but he also plays dulcimer and guitar, and contributes vocals. "Two a Roue" is not just a collection of hurdy-gurdy tunes. The songs range from dance tunes from the north west of Spain ("Galician Dances") to the anti-war "Japs and English" to Lowe's sad and beautiful lament to a polluted river, "Over Seal Sands."
Ignore the naysayer. This is a gorgeous album that will delight Jez Lowe fans as well as lovers of new and traditional folk music."
