"As a flutist I say that this CD is a must have for any aspiring flutist. It contains THE piece de resistance of the flute repertoire and the performance is simply legendary. Most of these pieces were dedicated to or commissioned by Rampal himself. For the average collector, you will just adore the Khatchaturian concerto. See why the first movement is so compelling that all over the world audiences could not stop clapping even just after the first movement."
A must have

"I am typically not a fan of Jean Pierre's flute playing (I find his tone to be thin and his technical passages to be a bit sloppy). With that said I was very surprised to actually like this CD. This collection is full of great pieces. Like everyone else reviewing I love the Katchaturian Concerto and having played it myself, I can tell you that it is one tough piece. I also adore the last movement of the Ibert concerto. The sonatas in this collection are also great and very well known pieces. This CD collection is a bargain."
