"Original Stylin is a pure gem, and EST is defintely top 5 in Hip Hop's most underated MC of all time category in my opinion. 3 Times Dope inspired so many up and coming artists out of Philly during the late 80's and early 90's. The Hilltop Hustler click was one of hip hop's most underated clicks as well, with guys like Cool C, Steady B, and Schooly D. Schooly D is probably Philly's most influential MC. But when it comes to being slept on EST aka The Greatest Man Alive takes the cake. Listen to EST's wordplay, delievery, and wit throughout the LP. Original Stylin was recorded in 88. EST is a pioneer that never got his due props. My man was way ahead of his time. I'm originaly from Philly,,,but this record inspired cats worldwide....just to be honest and be yourself. They were one of the only groups out of Philly at the time that truly represented the city's style, slang, and overall demeanor. DJ Woody Wood kills it on here too...especially when he cuts up the old MLK and Malcolm X quotes...long before Primo thought about it.This is truly an underated Hip Hop Classic. If you're a true hip-hop afficianado you must own this. If you're a hip hop head from Philly you must have this in your collection. sadly it was never re-released and is out of print. Search thru your local used CD store bin...maybe you'll be lucky. Because The lowest prices that you'll find on line for this gem is about 50$."

The best rap album to come outta Philadelphia!

"Sorry SCHOOLLY D. & CODE MONEY,y'all my dawgs. We goes way back. But when these 3 brothers came out as sons of you, with that funky,funky production of CHUCK NICE, damn, you can't help but to nod yo' head to this.



Now I don't agree with EST being the "Greatest Man Alive" but the song is hot melted butter!!! "Once More You Wanna Hear The Dope Stuff" greatest line 'never caught chillin' with a goldilocks', who would thought that these guys were down with the corny-isms of STEADY B and COOL C's Hilltop Hustlers. ORIGINAL STYLIN' the album by 3XD (EST,CHUCK NICE & WOODY WOOD) sounded like nothing else outta Illdelphia. "Funky Dividends" (I like the 12 version better) is a great female bashing song about money hungry chickens that us men needed for years. "From The Giddy Up","Joe Familar" there is not one song on this album that you cannot vibe to.



Why 4 instead of 5? "Funky Dividends". Believe me,if you can find the 12" version of that,you'll see why this version tallies it to 4. But this is a must have CD for any rap fan! If you can find it. It's rare, outta print and highly expensive at $100 or more. 'Believe that'!"

"See, a lot of people that really don't know any better would throw all "rap" music in the same category. You just cannot compare wht these cats were talking about to what these kids are rappin' about nowadays. This is REAL rap. This was put out at a time when I believe rap was at it's zenith. After about '92, it kinda took a different direction. This album was so so I guess it terms of popularity and these guys had something going on with Cool C and Steady B if you remember those guys. "Funky Dividends" and "Greatest Man Alive" got some pretty heavy rotation, but after that, not too much. I still have this on cassette. I put it in the player in the truck one day and played "Funky Dividends". My five year old went ballistic!! He also loves Eric B and Rakim's "Paid In Full". This was put out when rap was rap. Before M -N- M or Bustha or Out-Cast, there was 3D. Man, I still remember watchin' these cats on YO! MTV RAPS with all the stuff that M.C. Lyte and Latiah was puttin out at that time. Fab Five Freddie was the man YO! So was Ed Lover and Doctor Dre', but Fab Five was doin' first. Most underated song on this album: "Joe Familiar". One day, whe this music goes retro, and it's coming, a new generation will know this stuff. "Cruisin' down da ave wit my homeboy boob........." Man, I miss the '80's."
