You hear the same thing in the playing of Lili Kraus, a piano student of Bartók who remained devoted to his music all her life. Kraus recorded this collection of folk-influenced music in 1980, near the end of her life. She still played beautifully, and her interpretive style shows us how this music was meant to sound.
