CD ReviewsExcellent Pop/Rock Debut C. Smith | New York | 01/03/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "Abandon has crafted a pop/rock album that is both energetic and contemplative. Every other song feels like a breath of fresh air in pop/rock music. Synths are used throughout, but never abused. Piano is throw in for good measure on Safe in Your Arms and the beautiful album closer Hero. Songs like Hold On, Providence, and Atmosphere really make this album stand out, but the album highlight belongs to City Lights, possibly the best song I've heard this year. "We used to be so close, but with time we drifted apart. Now I'm on my way down the road, to where you are, to find your heart". The lyrics are honest and simple, but never cliché. The only thing that hinders this album is the song Here We Are Now. To me it falls into a typical ballad formula. Other may disagree, but I'm fine with enjoying the other 11 songs off the this amazing debut album." Full uplifting music for this Fall Joseph Mcwilliams | 11/09/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Abandon took what they had in the EP and sealed it up to make it even better. They have a sound that's familiar but unique amongst the genre. The lyrics are meaningful and above all true to reality. Prepare to have a worship experience that exposes parts of you that have been buried deep.
Tracks like "City Lights" cry for closeness while "Hold On" (the first and what I consider the staple Abandon track) tell a story of a girl lost and beaten by life. Abandon spares no personal reserve when writing this personal and compelling album." |
