"Abandoned To God" Grows On You!
S. King | Enfield, CT | 02/09/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Anyone familar with Steve Camp's earlier music got a dose of some really upbeat Christian rock-n-roll (with conviction)!

However it was not until Steve Camp's album: "Mercy In The Wilderness" and "Abandoned To God" that we experience a more mature Christian artist, yet with the same deep Bible-based convictions.

Steve's transformation came with Reformationist theolgy.

Hence the powerfully moving song: "Pounding On Wittenburgs Door"

The title track to this CD: "Abandoned To God" serves as a namecheck for the early leaders of the Reformation: Luther, Calvin, Spurgeon etc.

I also really enjoyed the songs: "Pilgrims Progress" "Man Of God" and the powerful Christian declaration of faith in "Here I Stand".

This music stirs the soul with deep Holy Ghost conviction, and is not for the faint-hearted. It seems so many "Christian" singers/musicians of today are lacking Bible-based lyrics in their songs. They could certainly take a lesson from Steve Camp on how uncompromising Christian music ought to be done.

If you enjoy the music of Keith Green or Rich Mullins, Camp's: "Abandoned To God" will be a shoe-in for you."
Six-Star Review

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is one of my two favorite albums by Steve Camp. The first being Consider the Cost. The lyrical depth in this album is more insightful and impactful than in many of his other albums. I'm disappointed that Abandoned won't have a solid 5-star rating due to other reviewer(s). IMHO, it deserves a higher rating than Mercy in the Wolderness or Desiring God."
