"I found this release very disappointing.
Like the other reviewers, I found the sound quality awful, but my biggest disappointment was the exclusion of Marilyn's vocal rendition of the song "Some Like It Hot" that was released on a EP {extended play) when the movie first came out. Not only is it very rare {it turns up on some compilation Marilyn CD's}, but its also fun, and definately would have made this already short CD more complete and appealing. This movie soundtrack deserves better.
{Added note: MGM did a superb job of their release of the soundtrack to "The Misfits", finding never before released music from the movie in their vaults and beautifully restoring it to an unbelievable sound quality. Surely they could do the same with "Some Like It Hot".??}"
A disappointing release

"The music from "Some Like It Hot" needs no comments from me - I love it and ordered this disc in hopes of recapturing the great energy and fun of the movie on my stereo. However, the disc is disappointing for several reasons. The disc contains only 33 minutes of music. The tracks are a mix of poor quality mono recordings (taken from the movie) and poor quality stereo recordings (taken from a contemporary record release?). I think that my video recording of the movie sounds better than this disc. I own other classical and jazz recordings of the era and know that the sound could be better - it's not a question of the technology at that time. In this disc's favour are great packaging and a multi-media feature. The liner notes are interesting and the fold out insert contains some interesting pictures (a colour photo of `Daphne`!). There is also some wonderful incidental dialogue from the movie ("Rough, hairy beasts with eight hands!")I don't regret buying this disc. I just want other prospective buyers to know that the sound quality is disappointing. Also, the music from Daphne's tango marathon has been omitted!"
Marilyn walks, and is a hit in some like it hot.

"MARILYN IS WONDERFUL IN SOME LIKE IT HOT. her 3 songs are wonderful. It also includes Arthur Miller's (husband at that time) favorite song 'I'm thru with love' which she does beautifully. She does a take off on Betty Boop in the song 'I wanna be loves by you' and ends the song with the 'boop poo pee do' betty boop sign off.Her song Running wild sets the tone for the whole movie. It is not surprising that this song is played as an instrumental in the opening titles. The instrumental 'sugar blues' provides the perfect erotic music background for her entrance into the film walking down the ramp at the train station, while smoke whistles blow from the train. What an entrance..She steals the scene from Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon dressed in drag. Now many years after she died, we can notice what a good actress she was, and a very nice singer in spite of not having a voice like Barbra Streisand. But listen to how she phrases her lyrics. The vhs video has been remastered and now provides a good quality for viewing the film. The CD is fine for listening.Enjoy, enjoy, one of the best comedies ever made, directed by the one and only Billy Wilder. CERTAINES L'AIMENT CHAUD."

"Nice packaging in this one of a series of reissues from RykoPalm, who also gave us reissues of CARRIE and LAST TANGO IN PARIS. Per previous comments, there is some erosion of quality. If ANYONE AT RYKO IS LISTENING... would you please reissue ADOLPH Deutsch's great score for that other Wilder film, THE APARTMENT. That one had the hit theme, guys! And some sultry sweet jazz to boot."

"I'm going to have to totally agree with the other reviewers here on the bad quality of the transfer to compact disc. While I love both the movie and all the music from Some Like it HOt, and I love listening to this, it doesn't sound very clear. It's like listening to a scratchy record.
Maybe it needs to be remastered again? or is the best it can get?
It is very good, a great ensemble of jazzy tunes that all were in the movie including all three of the songs MM sang: Running wild, I'm thru with love, and I wanna be loved by you.
I like how some dialogue is thrown into the mix too. It's a fun soundtrack if you don't mind the quality of the sound."
