CD Reviews

Another great Adrian Crowley record
D. Cottrell | 01/22/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I'm still waiting for this guy to get as well known in the states as say, Glen Hansard or Lisa Hannigan. He is an Irish musician of great skill and definitely one of my favorite lyricists. This album is something of a departure for Crowley, who here abandons his quirky obsession of sorts with nautical references and to a lesser extent with the dark, brooding sounds that have characterized his previous works (which I also highly recommend). Instead, this album is a bit more varied in sound from song to song, and more ethereal and uplifting overall. Well, relatively, anyway. I've been waiting for this album to come out for sometime and I am not disappointed by any measure. While there are departures (such as those I mentioned), the instrumental arrangements continue to be very strong (and use strings very tastefully) and his song writing skills have remained exceptional. This is probably one of the best rock albums this years whether anyone knows it yet or not."
