"There are so many different genres in Metal Music that one could probably never listen to them all. One of the many genres was started by Aeternus and is simply called Dark Metal. I really enjoy all of Aeternus's first 3 full-length albums. The first 2 albums (Beyond the Wandering Moon, ...And So the Night Became) are very dark and cold. They have a very majestic sound with a natural eerie feeling to the music. On this album (Shadows of Old) Aeternus come at us with a much heavier and more Death Metal sound. Don't worry, they are still rooted deep in the sound they started. The guitars are still very loose and distorted. The drums echo like they are being played in a dark cave in the middle of the Antarctic. The vocals from Aris are sung in his usual low, slow and dark delivery. Aeternus have always been influenced by dark folk music and they still are. You will find plenty of folk passages in this album as well as the first 2. A perfect addition to any metal heads collection or any one who appreciates true musicianship."
