Great stuff

"I have always been a fan of Nanook of the North. That is a great band. Mattias Olsson is mainly responsible for that, as he is for this one. AK-Momo is more an electronic duo with female vocals, so it's more like Goldfrapp and Portishead. The singer, AK von Malmborg, has that childlike voice that sounds like Cinnamon and Cranes. She is also compared to Joanne Newsom. Newsom says there is nothing childlike and innocent about her voice. The same applies to von Malmborg, who has the voice of experience. Much of this album has the theme of travel and displacement. Some of the best songs are "Your Mother's Faith" and "Time For The Muse." Other songs like "Return To NY" and "Hollywood" have a Billie Holliday vibe going on. This is a pretty cool record. There is nothing it coming out right now. It kind of reminds me of eight to ten years ago when I first started hearing Morcheeba and other bands like that. Hopefully this is not just a studio project. Hopefully we will get to see some of this music played live."
