Akira Ifukube spelled backwards is God

"This classical cd is a masterpiece. Mr Ifukube in my opinion is very under rated as a composer and a hidden jewel among the masses of classical music and cinematic composers. The instrumentals are strong and inspirational. You feel like you're part of the music. Each instrument is heard, and used fully and appropriately. They are never wasted. The compilations are a delight to the ears.
His music is probably best known for his work on the Godzilla/Toho Studio films. Not all the tracks are from Godzilla/Toho films. Unfortunately because the titles and linear notes are in Japanese you won't figure what pieces belong to film scores and which are independent unless you are a Akira Ifukube fan. A small price to pay for a great cd set."
Great new recordings!

"I was excited to learn a mini-anthology of Maestro Ifukube's film compositions was out there featuring NEW recordings, not the same recycled cuts that appear on countless other CDs.This 2 CD set focuses more on Ifukube's non sci-fi film scores, though tracks from Godzilla '54 and Ghidora, The Three Headed Monster do appear. An unfortunate draw-back to this compilation is that all liner notes are in Japanese. Thus, unless you speak Japanese, you really are left in the dark as to what piece of music comes from what film. The orchestra and conductor, also, are mysteries. That aside, the music really comes to life in these new digital recordings. I highly recommend this set to any fan of Akira Ifukube."
