"This is one of the final cd acquisitions before my wife put the hammer down;"You will never live to listen to all your vinyl, and now cd replacements". A valid point, but how neat it was to get this cd of some of Al "Jazzbo" Collins signature hip fairy tales. Jazzbo takes us back to that wonderful jazz era of the 50's. There is also a collection of straight ahead jazz from the era, including a riff on jazz vibes styles, and a number by the great Coleman Hawkins. Buy it for yourself, not the kids. They won't enjoy it; how hip can a kid get?but you will. Put it in the car stereo and I predict you will get to work with a smile on your face. Wifey wants me to start selling my collection on Amazon. This will be among the last to go. (Plus, you can and should get it new.) I only wish that Doctor Jazz or its assignee would reissue on cd the 1983 vinyl: "Al Jazzbeau Collins & Slim Gaillard..Steve Allen's Hip fables"..really hard to play that record in the car, no matter how hip I feel. These are the essence of jazz humor, elegance and understatement, right up there with Dave Frishberg and Bob Dorough, and Mose Alison, whose paths I am sure have crossed."
This CD is like, THE MOST, to say the least !!

"Finally!!!!! Él records gets a million purple mushrooms for releasing this fabulous stuff from my late friend, alberto-reeneemo. I must also give the folks at Él, high marks for such clean transfers. I was lucky enough for Al to have given me some of the original 78's, and as most anyone would know, there is more than enough work to do in order to clean them up. This material is quite rare, and is just the thing to massage anyone's lobes. Again, kudos to the cats at Él.
