"Adventurous listeners, who like to encounter the less familiar works of favorite composers, are directed to this CD. Almost every item receives its first CD release. Almost every item, moreover, proves to be a valuable find. Perhaps the most valuable is the waltz "An der Elbe", the last but one of all the waltzes Strauss composed. It has an enticing introduction, followed by charming and varied waltz melodies. Unlike many of Strauss's later waltzes, it is an idependant composition, not one that has been cobbled together from operetta material. The "Ninetta Galopp", however, does derive from operetta material, but sounds as fresh and spontaneous as any light music could be. Alfred Walter and the Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra are in good form and the sound quality, as throughout this whole series, is top class."
