"Fans of the beloved British songstress Alma Cogan will be sure to enjoy this top-value CD, which features 25 original tracks of classic Cogan magic.



Nicknamed "The Girl with the Giggle in Her Voice", Alma Cogan rose to fame in her native England by recording and performing covers of singles which had previously been big hits in America--yet she stamped them all with her own unique brand of musical skill. She was also one of the most glamorous singers of her generation; and became well-known for the incredible gowns she wore at concert appearances.



Cogan first broke into the Top 5 with her cover version of "Bell Bottom Blues" in 1954. It was very successful for Teresa Brewer in the States but proved to be an even bigger smash for Alma Cogan in England. She followed her success with "Little Things Mean a Lot", and "I Can't Tell a Waltz from a Tango" in 1955. Cogan's style was very much in keeping with listeners' tastes of the period; she also frequently covered musical theatre songs like "Whatever Lola Wants" (from "Damn Yankees"), plus romantic standards such as "When I Fall in Love".



This collection includes 25 numbers from Alma Cogan; presented in chronological recording order. Ms Cogan sadly passed away in 1966 from cancer, at the age of 34. She still had so much ahead of her; it was a cruel loss for the entire world. Her legacy of music is beautifully showcased on CD from the EMI Gold label.
