Synopsis

Product Description
Recorded in 1996, Carr Toons was intended by Amanda Carr to merely test her pedigree and create a modest demo of vocal jazz standards. Formally a rock and pop singer, Amanda finally followed in the musical footnotes of her parents and entered the jazz genre. Weaving in a couple of originals, Maybe, and composer John Kester's string-laden Just Another Spring, this collection is a delightful and varied offering of a singer whose musical growth was to be measured in future recordings. The swinging version of the WWII anthem Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (Andrew Sisters) was a long-running feature in a New England regional television ad campaign which brought Amanda's voice into thousands of homes.

CD Reviews

Great Music
W. Gawlas | 01/03/2004

"I bought this CD and gave it as a Christmas gift. It was so well recieved that I bought another one for myself. Great Jazz standards sung beautifully. Amanda's original songs are also beautiful. Thank you so much!"
AD HOMINEM CRITIQUES ARE BESIDE THE POINT...
W. Gawlas | pittsburgh | 08/19/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I *DO* feel sorry for the carefully-unidentified first reviewer...who

was clearly offended by Ms. Carr's snottiness (and whether it was justified by his initial contact we shall never know). But THAT was a

personal affront. It must have colored his/her reaction to the singer's

CD... resulting in a "review" which was definitely not "on point."

If anyone out there in "Listener Land" remembers the magnificent Irene

Kral, they will be glad for the talents of Amanda Carr--no matter how she

may condescend to hopeful correspondents. We need to keep separate our

personal quarrels from our opinions about up-and-coming jazz singers.

They DO need all of the positive reinforcement we can give them.

And Amanda Carr deserves much better than mean, revenge-laden AD HOMINEM

attacks. It is patently unfair to use a semi-public forum like the

Amazon Review Section to "get even" with a person that you feel has

"dumped" on you. In THIS forum, the MUSIC is *ALL* that matters."
