"Ambrose's orchestra was a popular British band that spanned the late twenties through the swing forties. This is an excellent transfer with great sound."

"If I rate the Avid 2-Cd set as the best compilation of Ambrose available, this one runs it a close second. The time span is ten years wider (1928-1944), enabling us to hear more of the classic early sides featuring Sylvester Ahola. There's a judicious mix of instrumental and vocal tracks, and amongst the latter is one of the two recordings which Connee Boswell made in London under her own name with Ambrose. Every one of the 49 tracks deserves its place here, and excellent remastering and very full discographical details makes this another "must have".
