Product DescriptionLive CD. Released by the band in 1998. This is the extremely rare and out of print second CD from the best live band on the planet, SLIM CESSNA'S AUTO CLUB. Recorded at Denver's legendary Bluebird Theatre on the night of October 24, 1997 by the equally legendary Robert "Big Bad Bob" Ferbrache of Le Studio Absenta (Under the Pillar of Fire.) This CD captures the early Auto Club line-up of Slim Cessna, John Rumley, Frank Hauser Jr., Glenn Taylor and me, Jon Killough, on drums. There are many songs to enjoy, to cry over, to rejoice and praise the glories of alcohol, tobacco, murder and redemption, Jesus and Lucifer, tormented men, cheap women and cheaper stereo systems. This is the Auto Club when they were more twangy and hick and called "beer swilling Bible thumpers," back in the good old days when you could smoke on stage. The beautiful tunes include: "Lethal Injection", the traditional gospel made hip and smokey "Wade In the Water", the chugging dirge "Come Along," the bouncing "Bartender", the stabbing nightmare of "Raven," the boisterous, ominous "Counting Steps," the lovely lament "Sometimes I Wonder," the classic country-politan "Never Too Late," the crying jag "Lonely In Hell," the too silly and awfully gimmicky "Barrel of My Gun," an amazing remake of "Help Me Make It (Through the Night)" - "What would a night be without a Kris Kristofferson song?" - and the lamentable turds "Hotter" and "Night on the Town." Also, the hidden track - the most amazing and hell-raising version of the classic Jesus worshipping gospel song, "Were You There (When They Crucified My Lord.)" You'll pound nails in your own palms after listening to this screeching ruckus of hell-fire and brimstone slinging fury. For various reasons, this CD will never again see the light of day.
