What The World Needs Now Is Love - Clay Aiken, Rickey Smith, Ruben Studdard END
"I like this one. It was a good idea for a charity single. It shows the vocal skills of the contestants, and how good they sound together. I think it was a good idea to release this as a charity single. I prefer this one over God Bless The USA because G/B/T/USA is very plain, where as this is a well arranged song and the vocals are amazing!! It's very captivating. This single contains the version w/ all 10, and a version with only Clay, Ruben, and Rickey singing it, and that version is amazing too!! The guys sound awesome together! This song can also be found on AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 2 : ALL TIME CLASSIC AMERICAN LOVE SONGS. Enjoy!!"
Good CD, despite track two

"While I think this song is just OKAY (sorry, Burt Bacharach), I think the arrangement and the kids' sound is great. That Clay starts out this one shows that they obviously realized who has undeniable talent in the group. While the first track is just lovely, I was a little disappointed with the second one too. Clay and Ruben sound all right, and Ricky for the most part sounds okay, but when he gets to the squealing part of his upper register, I cringed until I had to turn it off. I'm sure Ricky is a fine singer, it was just a poor arrangment, like another poster said, like it was thrown together just to put another song on the CD, leading to a disjointed recording.Still, both tracks are good for AI fanatics. Of course, you could just buy the Classic American Love Songs CD and get both What the World Needs Now and God Bless the U.S.A., but then Red Cross wouldn't get any donations!"
Nice Contestants, Nice Song.

"The single itself is good. The final 10 voices meld together nicely on Bacharach's new arrangement of his classic song...especially the end part with lots of lovely, overlapping harmony. The second version, with only Clay, Ruben and Rickey seems like a hastily thrown-together b-side. All three have wonderful voices, but they all sound disjointed and out of place in this arrangement. And.....if any American Idol higher ups are reading this, why isn't Ruben's first single "Imagine" and Clay's first single "Bridge Over Troubled Water?" With a television show that stressed the importance of song selection, I am surprised with both songs selected as first singles for Clay and Ruben."
It has Clay, It's great!

"Let's make this short... This single has a great song that gets stuck in your head a lot, right? So you'd think it would be amazingly annoying and you'd hate it? Well guess what, Clay Aiken has at least 4 solos on this CD all together. That makes it absolutely wonderful! As you can tell, I'm a Clay fan, but even if you're a Ruben fan or you don't even watch the show, it's a great CD. The only thing that I think may have messed the second remdition of "What the World Needs Now" on this single, is that the three that are singing are Rickey Smith, Ruben Studdard, and Clay Aiken. Clay and Ruben are both great singers(Clay is better though!) but Rickey should not have been put with them. I mean, Rickey probably shouldn't have even gotten to the top 12!"
