Synopsis
Product Description Amit Erez is an active and highly appreciated musician operating today in the Israeli indie music scene, as both a contemporary folk singer and the guitar player of the eclectic Prog\Mr. Bungle oriented band - Eatliz (www.myspace.com/eatliz). Three Years ago, Amit has released his first solo album, "Wish I Could Make It A Story", consisting of minimalist home recordings of only himself and his guitar. The album, which was self-produced and distributed domestically, had gained great reviews and set a solid base for Amit to establish his rising status as one of the finest singer/songwriters in Israel. Amit is highly influenced by veteran folk singers such as Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake and Tim Buckly, along with more contemporary artists such as Elliott Smith and Nick Cave. "Black Light" is a stunning combination between well crafted songs, captivating melodies, amazing fingerpicked guitar playing and shimmering vocals. While the songs mainly relay on Amit and the guitar, the sparks of strings arrangements is well felt, along with bright, soaring electric guitar work. "Black Light" is a beautiful landscape of a thirsty land, of a naked tall tree growing on a rocky land, of 4 o'clock in the morning in one of those nights when sleep is devoured. |
CD ReviewsA truly Well Kept Secret Nir Dudek | 12/22/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Sometimes the best music originates from the most unexpected places. The CD has the intimacy and first-name-basis feeling of a tiny gig of someone nobody yet knows about. Amit Erez delivers his sharp and personal lyrics with great intensity, accompanied almost solely by his own guitar playing. At times he sounds like Tim Buckley, at other times like Nick Drake, guitar patterns amplifying Simon & Garfunkel. However, he is a much more intense version of the three. Well worth buying, this CD truely hits you on the 2nd and 3rd listening. Highlight: track 3, Alarming Sounds."
