"Awedony was actually the first Egyptian album I've ever heard; and I loved it. Observe the mix of international and Oriental elements; it sounds both familiar and refreshing at the same time. I got it on audio tape when vacationing in Egypt; now I'm getting the CD. You might say, I enjoy it because it brings back vacation memories; well, my friends back home loved it, too."

"I am an ardent fan of arabic music but came upon "Awedony" only by chance. It is one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. The music is simply haunting. I am sure whoever listens to it can't help but agree. I hope to collect more of Diab's albums in the time to come."

Great music by an Egyptian icon

"There is a dominating nostalgic semblance to this album. It reminds me a bit of Weylomoni and Ya Omrena, which are two great albums by Mr. Diab. The music ranges from Nubian-influenced to Moorish to Arabic Pop. Most of the songs are standouts, especially El Malak El Baree and Melk Edaik, which are two of my all-time-favorite songs.This is a happy album that's bound to cheer you up regardless of your mood, background or language. This is, in my opinion, the power of Amr Diab's work. He is the epitome of musical transcendence in the Middle East."
