Here, Marcovicci sings the songs of her predecessor but it would be incorrect to call this a "tribute" album. Despite comparisons to other singers, Marcovicci always takes the material and makes it her own, adding a little modern sensibility along the way. Not allowing herself to be a throwback - just another middle aged woman in a cocktail dress singing standards - has set Marcovicci apart from the modern pack of cabaret artists. In this album, she proves that - with the right interpretation - these old songs still have something to say to us today. And only Marcovicci could take a flip little tune like "Some Other Time", wring the heartbreak out of it and remind us that "time is racing" - there might not be some other time. You would be wise to get this album now before it becomes unavailable, as so many of these cabaret records do. And if she's in town - for God's sake: go and hear her!" She manages to infuse songs with a tender nostalgia, leaving out melodrama and vocal pyrotechnics. My favorite songs in the album are "Sunday in New York" and "I Walk A Little Faster"; Marcovicci sings them lovingly and hopefully, but still manages to imply that she's seen alot and lived alot."
