CD Reviews

Not Perfect, But Still Satisfying

(4 out of 5 stars)

"The beautiful Ms. Parker is back, some 2 1/2 years after her LP Kiss My Arp. Her signature sound is in full force-dense, earth shaking electro with foreboding, apocalyptic soundscapes. The 5 tracks on the ep are actually less inviting due to the absence of Andrea's vocals and less focus on the orchestral elements of Kiss My Arp. The other slight dectractor is the fact that the songs become a tad monotonous-once the beat drops, it plays through until the end in pretty much the same form. Still, Andrea Parker has an entirely unique and enjoyable sound, and her fans (or anyone into electro/idm/nice dark beats) should definitely not sleep on this release. Also, the 12" release only features 3 of the 5 tracks from the CD, but they are the 3 standouts."
Dark treasure

"The part of the music buying public that does know Andrea Parker knows her through her "Kiss my arp" full length LP or the remix album by DJ Kicks. What a rather unlikely offer then "Dark ages" is. Gone are the cold cut narrations of "Kiss my arp" and in are 5 super doomy and futuristic tracks .
The title of this EP is very accurate in what's in store here. If you were going to experience the end of the world while being in a club then this gem would serve you more than good.
A pulsating bass dominant almost throughout the 5 trax and and an undelying evilness leave you begging for more. This is easily Andrea Parker's most intimidating outing and i was left wondering why she didn't work this into a full blown LP rather than leaving it to an EP.
If, on the other hand, this is an indicator of things to come from her, then we are in for a massive treat.
This EP qualifies hands down as a gem that must be discovered. Buy it, listen to it, and spread the Dark Ages about. Incredible."
