Amazingly, this 1980s icon of sexual loathing and resentment has managed to keep his career going into the new millennium. All of the things the comedian is known for--misogyny, racism, free-floating anger--are on full display here. For Dice Clay, sex is an instrument of domination and humiliation. His riffs on the subject are repetitive and dull; the man makes any sex act sound as exciting as a plumbing maneuver. The comic's nasty remarks about Asians on "K2Y/China Diner" are as clichéd as they are awful. On "Midgets 2000" he goes after midgets with inexplicable hostility. Can this rant actually be considered comedy? Face Down, Ass Up's irritated trash talk feels like it goes on for hours. This is the work of one tired, juiceless bad boy. Dice Clay, or at least his comic persona, appears to be played out. --Ian Conde

CD Reviews

Andrew Dice Clay - 'Face Down, *ss Up' (Capitol) 4 1/2 stars
Mike Reed | USA | 05/08/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Review # 46. Most recent release I've seen in stores or online from the foul-mouthed comic from Brooklyn. After listening to 'Face Down', I was fully convinced the 'ol Diceman still has it. Snippets here I liked best were "Big Head", "Midgets 2000" (freaking hilarous!), "Banana Nose", "KY2 Wife" (have always loved the way this guy purposely mis-pronounces some of his words), "Pencil Room" and "Don't Marry Her". Subjects here tackled include dating a geek girl's mom, refusing to marry a girl JUST because she tells you she loves you and avoiding society's low lifes. Can't BELIEVE it that now, twenty years later after I hear Dice Clay mention, "hickory dickory dock, your mom was..." I'm still in stitches. Highly recommended. At least a hundred laughs on this CD release."
The Dice Man delivers the goods

"I saw the dice man do his thing in Albuquerque, NM a few years ago at Route 66 and really enjoyed his comedy. It's raw, intelligent and hits the funny bone like a sledge hammer through butter. This cd includes nice bonus features from snoop doggy dog, and contains funny and timely stories, song and descriptions of topics only the dice man can deliver. Highly recommended in this day and age of the pansy, politically correct, and generally too sensitive society we live in."
