"I'm a younger Andrews Sisters fan. I was first turned onto them when I heard "Rum and Coca Cola" - did I want to hear more after that! This is NOT the great version I heard!!! In the 50's they re-recorded their hits for Capitol and 3 of them are here - Rum and Coca Cola, I'll Be With You In Apple Blossom Time, and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (the rest, however are originals, Begin the Beguine is super.) You've never heard these songs until you've heard the originals. I'd stay away from Captiol CD's or compilation CD's which include Capitol re-recordings of the Andrews like this one. I recommend "The Andrews Sisters - Their All-Time Greated Hits" (MCA) - sold here at Amazon too - it is packed with all original versions and has really great liner notes. The original Rum & Coca Cola and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy are pure magic!"

"I just bought this CD a few days ago, and have fallen in love wih it. Before buying this CD, I had really only heard Bei Mir Bist Du Schon a few times. Whoever wants to listen to some great songs, buy this album! Don't Fence Me In, Bei Mir Bist Du Schon, and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy are incredible. Too bad the music of today isn't this great."
"The Andrew Sisters are the best singers I have ever heard. My friends think I'm weird because I listen to "old music" instead of the "new age music", but I don't care. This is the best CD I have ever listened to. It's Terrific!!!"

"Hearing The Andrew Sisters always takes one back to long summer days and lemonade stands, Abbott and Costello making moviegoers laugh, and WWII. Their music was everywhere during the 1940's, and with good reason. They were terrific. Whether entertaining American G.I.'s or helping Bing with some background vocals, they always brought a needed smile with their wonderful harmonies and upbeat demeanor. "Rum and Coca-Cola" and "I'll Be With You In Apple Blossom Time" became anthems for a decade which saw both joy and heartbreak, and the greatest generation ever produced saving the world from evil at a tremendous cost.
Their vocal harmonies always seemed effortless even though it only came about after hours of practice and a lot of hard work. While quite a few compilations of their music are available, most have a good smattering of songs which represent them well. Except for one 40 song collection, most are pretty much like this one. But fans don't get this nice cover shot on those releases, and maybe that's what makes this one special. They once jokingly told Bob Hope if they'd been prettier they would have been chosen for his many WWII tours. Such was not the case, of course, as evidenced by this lovely CD.
There will never be another girl group like the Andrew Sisters. It was a different and, to many people, better time. These songs will make you nostalgic but will also make you feel good. A nice mixture of uptempo tunes and harmonious ballads are on this disc. The Andrew Sisters always seem to be having a good time entertaining us, giving us a wink as they sing their hearts out. This is a great collection to own or, perhaps especially to give as a gift. Patty, LaVerne and Maxene are still entertaining us 70 years later, and maybe if you close your eyes, you can dream...."
