"I've written before about Andy Votel's mixes. He has four to date before this; Three where he mixes pshyc, funk and rock, all treasures burried quite deep before he dug them up and gave them to us. On the fourth, he mixes a large houseload of music from the heyday of Vertigo records.
Here, the professor turns his sights to Topicallia, rock influenced music made in South America in the late 60s/early 70s. This is all the more fascinating, considered that a lot of this was made under harsh dictatorships, back when rock was truely a subversive beast.
Don't come to Brazilika expecting Jobim, or even Veloso. This is heavy music with lots of Hammond' B-3s and wha-wha guitars. All the music has a latin tinge, but this is probably the most heavy, rock influenced installment out of all the Votel compilations.
It really does shread the wallpaper. Spectacular.
