Synopsis

Album Description
Every now and then Scandinavia pops its head up from the icy tundra and gives the rest of Europe a beguilingly elegant musical nudge - Abba, The Hives, The Wannadies, The Cardigans, Soundtrack Of Our Lives and Stina Nordenstam have all sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to charm and brighten the UK's musical scene. Ane Brun promises to be the latest export from her cold homeland to warm musical hearts. The uncrowned singer-songwriter queen of Scandinavia, born in Norway and living in Sweden, has toured regularly throughout mainland Europe since her 2003 debut Spending Time With Morgan, frequently pulling in full houses and winning numerous musical awards. This album, A Temporary Dive, has translated critical and live acclaim into chart success by recently going straight to no.1 in Norway and into the top 10 in Sweden. V2. 2005.

CD Reviews

Singular and strong
Winton Palmer | Cape Town, South Africa | 12/27/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Despite the abundance of new folk music this release defines its own space without undue comparisons. Ane has a fine voice and combined with the sensitive arrangements and tasteful production makes this an essential album if you own anything by Suzanne Vega, Emiliana Torrini, Tracy Chapman or Feist. I hope that we hear much more from Ane Brun in the future."
