"This is about what an anthology should be, a taste of every Angel album at the time it was released. I can remember when this was the only way to get anything by Angel on CD. All it did for me was make me want the individual albums even more! I only have one bad thing to say about this disc and that is that they left "Mirrors" off of it from HELLUVA BAND. I seriously don't think there is a better place to start your Angel collection. You get a CDs worth of music for a bargain of a price and you get virtually all of their good Mercury material.Greg Guiffria on keyboards is hard to explain. This guy is a serious musician that even invents keyboards. His play is awe inspiring. Punky Meadows on guitar, well he's not Hendrix, but his solos are HOT. His work certainly helps bring to life the magic of Angel. On drums there is Barry Brandt. Talk about an underrated drummer! Brandt is excellent! The vocals of Frank Diminio are different, but energetic and are a strong part of the charisma of Angel. There are 2 bass players and both are very good musicians. Unfortunately, I can only remember Felix Robinson's name. This album is dangerous, if you are into great rock you may have missed! You will find yourself wanting more Angel and those other albums are becoming very difficult to find other than the first two (ANGEL & HELLUVA BAND). If you don't want to like something stay away from ANTHOLOGY!"
One helluva effort

"I saw Angel on the Bang Your Head festival in Germany 'bout two months ago. Nobody there knew who they were. But boy, they kicked ass. Everybody left with an Angel cd. Sadly the band was selling there 1999 effort with Coallier Entertainment 'In The Beginning'. That album is rather good but paled in comparison to what I had just witnessed. They didn't even play a single song from that album. So I went to a music store the following day. Only 'In The Beginning' was available. So I researched on the net and found out that their old record company has stopped print of their old albums in '92. They don't want to reissue the stuff or sell it to another record company. Which I think is a shame. Finally I found a cd here at Amazon, 'An Anthology'. It contained all the songs I heard live. It is absolutely awesome. I'm a big KISS fan, so Angel is right up my alley. I'm definitely going to see this overlooked band when they return to Europe in this December. If you like hard rock, you'll like this one!"
A good sampling from a great band.

""ANGEL: An Anthology" is a great compilation of songs that I would easily recommend to anyone who is not already familiar with Angel's albums. Those people could then decide whether this music is to their liking. People who already know this band's 5 original studio albums would be better served by both buying this and also trying to track down all 5 of those CDs, of which some of them are hard to find anymore. Like a lot of fans, "Tower" is one of my favorite Angel songs, with it's blistering intro and fiery delivery. This band covered a wide range of musical styles, and all are pretty well represented on this anthology. Plus, there are several songs here that aren't available on any of their previous releases. My favorite one of those would have to be their hard rock rendition of the Four Tops classic "Walk Away Renee", which I found mesmerizing and vastly interesting. Unlike some other fans, I really didn't have too much of a problem with this band's transition to mainstream rock in their later albums, although I must admit an overall disappointment that those later albums did not have the 'magnum opus' feel of the first two ("Angel" and "Helluva Band", my two personal favorites). Yes, their later albums were not as good as those, but they weren't all that bad either. Anyway, both the curious and the collector will find something worthwhile on this anthology. Recommended."

"It's very difficult to cram so many great years and so many great albums from ANGEL on to one CD But they've done an excellent job here. You've got it all here the progressive side the commercial and even the disco side (20th century foxes )I could never understand why ANGEL never made it bigger than they where cause I always thought they had the tallent to be the hottest band around back then.ANYWAYS buy this from Amazon ! You'll LOVE IT !"

"I grew up listening to ANGEL and to this day they are the most underrated rock band in the history of rock'n roll. The guitars, synthesizers, and vocals by Frank DiMino were never matched by any band in the 70's or 80's. In todays world of garbage rock and explicet lyrics, I find compfort in putting my ANGEL in the CD player and hearing hard (and soft rock) that can really move you singing about love and not about hate. Only regret I have is not being able to see them in concert."
