CD ReviewsHer classic balladry: Still there. HLR | Philadelphia, PA USA | 12/30/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "Even after 25 years of Bofill's album hits and misses, whenever I play her cds, I still anxioiusly wait to hear one thing: her ballads. Never to disappoint, Bofill's key songs in "Love In Slow Motion (LISM)" are "All She Wants" and "Are You Leaving Me Now", the staples for this cd. Another ballad, "Real Love" is good, too, while the Latin-inspired "Soul of Mine" and soft-rock "Black Angel" also help to make "LISM" a average-to-good cd, but certainly not a stand out. But when you consider Bofill's discography, it's not about a list of outstanding albums. Rather, her music legacy is about "blow your mind" ballads that always trascend an otherwise mediocre album. For instance: "This Time I'll Be Sweeter", "I Try", "Break It To Me Gently", "Tonight I Give In", "Let Me Be the One", "Tell Me Tomorrow". It's these Bofill ballads that grab your attention; that make you stop, listen and say wow. They are her signature pieces that are still radio oldie favorites today, and yet, they were each released on different albums that now are practically forgotten, and some hard to get (except, of course, for "Angel of the Night"!). Although I had never heard a song from "Love In Slow Motion", I bought the cd on a whim, convinced that I would soon hear a new Bofill ballad. And true to form, the first track "All She Wants" is vintage Bofill! Her sultry low tones transported me back to the fall of 1983, when a friend and I were driving back to campus. We parked the car, and sat there staring at the radio for the next 5 minutes, completely mesmerized by Bofill's voice and her (then) new hit song, "I'm On Your Side". We just listened and said, "wow". (n.b. "I'm On Your Side" was the only hit song from Bofill's "Teaser" album.)" FANTASTIC John W. Estes | 11/18/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "With LISM, this is a return to her debut album "Angie" It is has more of a jazz/fusion sound than her previous releases. "All She Wants" really showcases Angela's beautiful voice and unique style. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great vocalist. In my opinion, Angela Bofill has to be one of the best singers of all time, and she really displays it on this album." Fine Sinitta | Germany | 12/28/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Another very beautiful and fine piece of music by Angela Bofill. She surely has a recognizable voice. Connected with these nice love ballads it makes a beautiful and mellow CD."
