"On this steller debut from the former Sounds Of Blackness frontwoman, Ann Nesby has truly outdone herself. Since this album came out about three years ago, I've been recommending it to friends everywhere. This smooth Jam/Lewis produced project has something for everyone. Flagrant R&B, dance, gospel and a few killer ballads starting with I'm Still Wearing Your Name, an ole to a lost love. I'll Do Anything For You speaks for itself. (What A) Lovely Evening is great for a candlelight dinner in winter. Lord I Need You is Ann at her gut-wrenching best. Can I Get A Witness is hot for the jeep. With its thumping base line, it's the right ingredient for any club, house party, or church for that matter. These are just a few of the jewels in this collection by Ms. Nesby. In the mist of a record company shuffle involving Perspective Records/A&M Records, it may be a while before we hear from her again. Also involved in this shuffle are The Sounds Of Blackness (hense the dismal sales of their last effort Time For Healing), Lo-Key?, and Solo. Until this matter is resolved, this CD will stand as one of the best R&B projects by a female in the 90's."
One of the best albums of the 1990s.

"Ann Nesby has "soul" -- period. Because she's NOT in her early twenties, she's got a tad more experience in delivering what she's singing about than some of our younger talented divas. She really gives it what she's got, and that's saying something! Ann's voice is to be reckoned with. Listen to any of Sounds of Blackness' pre-1997 recordings (she was the featured soloist during that time), and you'll know what I mean. But with the outstanding production by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on this album, this CD is a must have for anyone that is remotely interested in R&B music. This CD was released in 1996 and sounds just as fresh today as it did then, a testament to its quality. I just hope Ann Nesby's next album -- whenever it comes out! -- is just as good. In the meantime though, enjoy "I'm Here For You." It will not let you down."
A singer who deserves another shot at stardom

"It has been five years since the release of Nesby's debut album. Nesby, the former frontrunner of Sounds of Blackness, made an auspicious entry as a solo artist in a work that is well produced and superbly executed. After starting off with the mid-tempo "Let the Rain Fall," the singer really shows her sensitive side with the very emotional "I'm Still Wearing Your Name." Next up is the sultry "If You Love Me," followed by the passionate "(What A) Lovely Evening."Chills abound when one hears "I'll Do Anything for You" (cut #6) while the later cut "This Weekend" triumphs as one's prelude to a romantic rendezvous."Thrill Me," "Hold On," and "In the Spirit" are reminiscent of Nesby's work with her former group. The dance-ready "Can I Get a Witness" gets the blood a-pumping. The next to last cut, "Let the Old Memories Be" is a heart-rendering as anything done by that other diva named Aretha. And the final one ("Lord, How I Need You") is an inspiring testament to faith.I truly hope that another one from this dynamo is in the wings, ready for an assault on my appreciative ears."

"This album is magnificent. I only came across it by accident and I have to say god bless you. I enjoyed the album from start to finish. Not only has Ann Nesby got a very strong voice that reaches out to you but the lyrics are close to reality. Each track has its own blueprint which also gives the album another edge."
