If life were fair, she'd be at the top of the R & B charts!!

"Her voice is known, even if her name is not. Ann Nesby came to prominence in the early 90's as the lead singer for Grammy-winning Sounds of Blackness. In 2003 she herself had a Grammy-nominated duet with Al Green entitled "Put It on Paper," bringing her another legion of fans. However, the little lady with such a powerhouse voice has yet to garner the attention that she so richly deserves.
Hopefully, "The Lula Lee Project" will send her heavenward into the album-selling stratosphere.
Though the album is classified as being in the gospel genre, the songs on the album have crossover appeal, blending R & B, funk, a little blues, and, of course, contemporary gospel.
The singer is backed by a superb ensemble of musicians as well as some outstanding background vocalists.
Of course, it is Nesby's soulful and dynamic voice that makes the project such a worthwhile one. She possesses one of those voices that draws attention to itself and because of it, she ranks as one of the best interpreter of soul music this side of Aretha Franklin...and that's saying a lot.
While every song on "The Lula Lee Project" is excellent, a couple of standouts include "I Found a Place," "Too Late," "Praises (Go Up)", "Say Jesus," "Sow Love," and "Pressure Makes Diamonds."
It may be early in the game but this album should yield another Grammy nomination for the singer...and, hopefully, there'll be a win here, too."

"This Cd put you in the mind of R&B but it also have a valuable message especially the song pressure makes diamonds. You would not think that it is nothing but R&B but is suppose to be contemporary gospel. If you like contemporary gospel with some type of beat then you will love this CD."
