CD ReviewsThrash Heads need not Apply Rigor Mortis | 11/23/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "Simply because there isn't a 'thrash' song on the entire album. In order to be as creative as possible, Jeff Waters wrote and recorded all the parts on this album himself, not counting the drums. This makes for several cool metal songs such as King of the Kill, Annihilator, The Box, and Second to None, though none of them are really particularly fast or thrashy, except perhaps the title track. This album also features a number of bluesy AC/DC style rockers such as Speed, 21, and Fiasco. The ballad is represented here too, with Only Be Lonely, In the Blood, and the short Bliss. It's a well rounded metal album and cool to hear Waters on vox, but it's nowhere near the level of power on any of the other albums." Soild, Jeff Waters effort here... Max R. Turner | 04/10/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "ANNIHILATOR, or "Jeff Waters" as this CD should be called, did an awesome job with "King of the Kill". While nowhere near the early thrash-sound of old ANNIHILATOR, Waters remains true to his guitar playing abilities! The title track, "21" and "Bad Child" are my favorites, as his guitar is everywhere. I also like the bonus track, "Only Be Lonely" as it reminds me of when I was about to leave my family for a time (I'm military), and my daughter was crying when this song was playing. Very strong words, to be sure!
Anyway, DO GET this release. If you like solid guitar playing, you won't be throwing your money away." |
