Produced by Claudia and Andrew along with Paul Humphreys (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) the performances rely in a unique way on the voice coupled with on single instrument, be it guitar or piano. The album consists of covers of songs by Elvis Costello, Radiohead, Franck Black, David Bowie, Marianne Faithful, Kate Bush, Billy Machenzie, Franz Schubert and Grace Jones amongst others along with an original written by Claudia Brucken and Andrew Poppy. "I spent much of my teen years in the 80's tracking down anything with the ZTT label on it. So when I saw this album by Claudia Brücken of Propaganda and Andrew Poppy, I had to have it.

Most of the tracks are covers and what choices! Elvis Costello's vitriolic "Lipstick Vogue" starts the album and sets the tone with Poppy accompanying Claudia's clear vocals with a solo guitar. The results are nothing less than astonishing. The lyrics are front and center and none of the power is lost.

Second is Frank Black's "White Noise Maker". Poppy is on the piano for this one. Black's version is all noise and flash (good noise, but still noise). Here the song is haunting and beautiful: a real revelation.

And so it goes, throughout the album with Poppy accompanying Claudia with a solo instrument. Bowie's "Drive in Saturday" sounds like lost Brecht. Radiohead's "Nice Dream" floats. Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" pierces. Each reconstruction is perfect.

You can hear Poppy's steady hand in the stripped down arrangements and he pushes Claudia to new heights. Her voice has never sounded this good.

If you are looking for something that sounds like Propaganda or Act, look elsewhere, but this album is beautiful and inspiring. It is expensive, but well worth it."
