Another Fantastic Single From The Evita Soundtrack

"Madonna released only one song in 1997. It was called Another Suitcase In Another Hall, and peaked at No.7 in the UK in March 1997 spending just five weeks on the chart. It was the third and final single to be taken from the soundtrack to the hit film Evita, in which Madonna starred as Eva Peron. With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd-Webber, this is a good song, but definitely not a Madonna classic.

Another Suitcase In Another Hall begins softly with a Spanish guitar and drums, then Madonna starts singing the first verse, "I don't expect my love affairs to last for long. Never fool myself that my dreams will come true. Being used to trouble I anticipate it, but all the time I hate it. Wouldn't you?" Madonna's vocals are high-pitched and glorious after vocal preparation for the role of Eva Peron in the film. Madonna then sings the chorus, "So what happens now? (Another suitcase in another hall) So what happens now? (Take your picture off another wall) Where am I going to? (You'll get by, you always have before) Where am I going to?" Madonna then begins to sing the second verse, "Time and time again I've said that I don't care. That I'm immune to gloom. That I'm hard through and through. But everytime it matters all the words desert me. So anyone can hurt me and they do." Madonna then sings the chorus once more, before singing, "Call in three months' time and I'll be fine. I know. Well maybe not that fine but I'll survive anyhow. I won't recall the names and places of each sad occasion. But that's no consolation here and now." Madonna then sings the chorus once more before 'Huevo' sings "Don't ask anymore." The song then ends.

The video to Another Suitcase In Another Hall is the performance that Madonna gives in the film. It follows the videos to You Must Love Me and Don't Cry For Me Argentina in a similar style that they are from the same movie, and Madonna is dressed brilliantly in glorious clothes and fine jewellery. All in all, a catchy and melodic songs from Madonna with a fairly good video to match."
