Jim Ed is the best!
Fern Benoit | Edmonds, Wa., USA | 09/22/2000

"I grew up listening to Jim Ed and Helen..I think that Jim Ed Brown has one of the smoothest, most mellow voices out there and Helen Cornelius is a perfect complemet to him."
The forgotten seventies country duo
Peter Durward Harris | Leicester England | 04/06/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The seventies were a vintage decade for country duos. Every country fan knows about Porter and Dolly, George and Tammy, Conway and Loretta, Kenny and Dottie - but it seems that Jim Ed and Helen have been largely forgotten. At least we can be thankful that the good people at the now-defunct Renaissance records remembered.

Jim Ed Brown had a long career behind him when he found the ideal duet partner in the hitherto-unknown Helen Cornelius. They recorded three duet albums. A greatest hits album was also released. This anthology contains twenty of their finest songs, including two solos each and sixteen duets.

Their career together began with two huge hits on the country charts - I don't want to have to marry you (number one) and Saying hello saying I love you saying goodbye (number three), both from 1976. They had further hits over the next few years, but although none were as big as those two, they were all of a high quality, as all their music was.

Among the other songs here, my favorites are Fall softly snow (a lovely, romantic Christmas song), I'm leaving it up to you (originally an American hit for Dale and Grace, it was an international hit for Donny and Marie Osmond), You don't bring me flowers (an international hit for Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand) and Don't bother to knock.

This is a lovely collection by a great duo. It may be hard to find now, but you should at least be able to find Fall softly snow on a country Christmas collection, as well as some of their hits on country compilations."

"This was a Christmas Gift. Our friend absolutely loved it. I would definitely buy from this seller again."
