"Anthony really poured his soul into this one! Layered, textured, thunderous, and delicate, this piece has it all. Expertly produced by Ant and Simon Heyworth (of Tubular Bells fame), this album showcases that Anthony was the visionary behind the original Genesis sound, and why they had to eventually part ways.
I have a Pavlovian response to the intro and the 2:30 second outro of this two-part opus. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the album is breathtaking too, but those two bits send me over the top.
To truly enjoy this CD, I recommend at least 300 listens, as I have done. After you've accomplished that, it will finally be time to dust off that bottle of 1947 Petrus and enjoy the two simultaneously. But have this consolation; if the wine has somehow managed to turn, don't worry, Slow Dance will continue to improve with age!"
One of my best albums

"This is the best of Anthony Phillips CD's. Turn the lights off and wear a good pair of headphones and chill out."
"Sometimes you find yourself with a gift from life in the most strange way. In this case, that gift came to my life in the form of a CD. The name of the gift that life has given to me is "Slow Dance" and the author is Mr. Anthony Phillips.
Is difficult to express all my ideas about this MAGNIFICENT work of art in a foreign language. But maybe, saying that this album has made a mark on me could be enough.
Is very uncommon to find a musician like Anthony Phillips. Is very uncommon to find an album made from the heart as well. But in this case the combination of both is even more uncommon to find. Well, that is the case with SLOW DANCE : A wonderfull musician (maybe one the greatest i've known) making an album from the heart.
Well balanced, with a BEAUTIFUL main theme that is treated in several ways across the album... you can find electronic sequences in Tangerine Dream style, or subtile warm strings..flute, oboe, harp.. all is perfectly mixed and beautifully presented.. you have to listen it to believe it.
Once i read then even Anthony Phillips himself considered this album as his best... listen it and find your own conclusions.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"
