CD Reviews

And It's a Long Way to Tennessee and Back
Kelly Langston-Smith | Atomic City, USA | 10/09/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"All right, if you want to see me gush about Antje Duvekot, look up my review for "Boys, Flowers, Miles" here on Amazon. Little Peppermints is her debut and it is brilliant in exactly the way that a girl strumming her guitar and singing from her heart and soul can be. But what I really showed up to tell you is that two of the songs on this CD are so far beyond fantastic that I am close to being stunned to silence (close, but not quite). Merry-Go-Round is one of the most lively, vibrant, exciting and fantastic songs I have ever heard. I like to sing along but find it is still difficult to keep up with the words. Long Way is the kicker. Exactly how many pieces are you willing to be ripped into? It is a road song. It is a journey song. It is a life song. I have very little melodrama engrained in me so I am deadly serious when I say that in a world peppered by beautiful songs, this is one of the most beautiful. I took an hour and a half trip last week and listened to Long Way the entire way. The ENTIRE way. That ONE song. And it still hasn't been muted. It still has just as much impact and edge as the first time I spun it. All right, I guess I AM gushing after all. But good is good."
Stunning

"I downloaded this CD (thinking it was Little Peppermints) after hearing "Merry Go Round" on a Bank of America commercial. Although I was disappointed that the song I wanted wasn't present, I was blown away by the songs that I got. Dandelions and Judas alone are worth the $7 I paid! The marriage between insightful lyrics and beautiful guitar playing is perfect. As another reviewer said, this woman cannot remain an unknown for much longer! I haven't been this moved by a female folk singer since I first heard Dar Williams."
Just another musical genius??

"This girl has too much talent to remain an "unknown" too much longer. Look for her to break out in 2006."
