"I appreciate a number of stories Burt Bacharach shared with the world involving his ongoing love affair with Brazilian music.
He spent some time in South America in the clubs, and was amazed by the sort of rhythms natives produce simply tapping swizel sticks against their drinking glass.
The rhythms were so astounding he tried to copy some of them on a paper napkin and had to give up because they were so intricate.
Burt Bacharach goes on to say he was also amazed by the sort of rhythms natives produce holding and tapping their key chain standing in a elevator waiting for their floor.
Burt Bacharach is my hero, after putting a lot of thought in what he said, I believe he is talking about the freedom and total abandonment South American's exercise and enjoy.
Universal has recently released an important box set of Brazil's premiere composer of this sort of intoxicating music.
Antonio Carlos Jobim Brasileiro

I placed my copy on pre-order before I knew what I would be getting.
When my package arrived in the mail, I was rewarded beyond my wildest dreams.
I spent two years looking for the soundtrack to the 1967 film Garota de Ipanema.
I broke the shrink wrap open and I discovered Universal Music has re-issued it for this delightful box set.
That alone is worth the sticker price.
The soundtrack kicks off with a song featuring Elis Regina and Chico Buarque.
Noite dos mascarados.
Followed by tracks with Nara Leao, Tamba Trio, Vinicius de Moraes, Ronnie Von, Baden Powell and Quarteto em Cy e MPB-4.
A veritable time machine to transport the listener to the beaches of Rio and the music coming out of their clubs, movie houses and radio in the late 60's.

Antonio Carlos Jobim Brasileiro 8 CD box set also includes the re-issue of the album Elis & Tom with studio chatter.
The extremely rare album Caymmi Visita Tom-ME-17, a CD I purchased not too long ago where the going price for the import approaches the cost of this whole box set.
Edu & Tom another gem, popular among fans.
Antonio Carlos Jobim Matita Pere, an album I must admit, I need to acknowledge Universal Music for having the foresight to re-issue on this collection.
