("Barbar Ann" by The Beach Boys " A Fun CD S. Peek | Rocky Mountains, USA | 01/22/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "'Grace Period' combines solid Christian lyrics with the sounds of well known songs to make a very fun package.
For those who are unfamiliar with them, this group parodies songs in popular music from various genres and does it with Christian lyrics. The songs generally have Scriptural references for the listener to review. Oftentimes they sound very much like the original except the words. This particular CD parodies songs from artists as diverse as The Beach Boys, The Village People, Simon and Garfunkel, Nickelback, and Bruce Springsteen. There are several very good songs on this album. Many are very funny. All of them have a sound message. Among my favorites on this CD are revised versions of the following songs: 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' by The Charlie Daniels Band, 'Drops of Jupiter' by Train, 'Follow Me' by Uncle Kracker, 'Renegade' by Styx, and The Who's 'My Generation'. If you have not heard anything by Apologetix, you are missing something very good. I recommend it." |
