Synopsis

Album Description
April Wine formed in late 1969 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. "Fast Train," their first hit, appeared in 1971, the same year as the self-titled debut album. The next year brought the band's first Canadian number one single, 'You Could Have Been a Lady', from the On Record album. In 1976, The Whole World's Goin' Crazy became the first Canadian album to go platinum and their resulting tour was the first to gross one million dollars. After 1978's First Glance and 1979's Harder...Faster, 'Just Between You and Me' became April Wine's biggest U.S. hit. The single (one of three Top 40 American singles by the band) propelled 1981's Nature of the Beast album to platinum-record status. 1984's Animal Grace was their last album, but in the early 1990's all the original members joined for a Canadian tour, which convinced them to resume recording, they are still recording and touring the world to their ever-loyal fan-base.

CD Reviews

Vintage snapshot marred by ok sound
J. Lupton | Just south of Oblivion | 09/24/2009
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This has a great set list and the dvd is excellent however this cd leaves something to be desired. The band is in good form, near their peak and this was an above average outing - necessary because they were on video as well. Anyway, the sound is marred - it's muddy and bassy to the point of distraction. This was recorded nearly 28 years ago (feel like a geezer); not the stone age so you'd expect better. I suspect this was transferred from vhs.

Another annoyance - they left the interview portions on this from the video in - what crap! You want a live show? Then no interviews needed in my opinion they detract from the songs and they are not separate tracks either. Several songs suddenly go from a live performance to talking (they are touring London). You like talking? Get books on tape and leave it off my cd. Fans will want this regardless; this product however, has much room for improvement."
