"This is Arabesque's debut record originally released in 1978.Arabesque,with their charming front singer Sandra (who should become much more successful during the 80's as a solo star and as part of Enigma in the 90's),had no success in Europe at all,but surprisingly became very popular in Japan. There they were quite as famous as Abba. Their first record is also their best one.Funky,European Disco Sound on songs like "Friday Night" or "Hello Mr. Monkey" wasn't revolutionary, but still different from acts of these days like Boney M or Donna Summer.Indeed, these songs sounded more fresh and exciting... Unfortunately,Arabesque became worse with every following record."
