"Like most others I was a big fan of Funeral. Instead of a normal review I'll give you a timeline of my impression of this great album.
1. First couple of listens. Underwhelmed. Almost none of the instantly catchy complexity of Funeral. Obviously a sophomore slump of an album. I'll go back to Funeral for a while.
2. Keep listening anyway. This is pretty deep and dark, heavy music. A couple of these songs are actually really good though. Antichrist Television Blues is really good, maybe a couple others.
3. Wait a minute, a couple of these other songs are pretty good too. I'm starting to like about half of these songs, maybe more.
4. Ocean of Noise might be a masterpiece. I'm listening to this album at work with my headphones on all the time.
5. This album is a work of art. How come I didn't "get it" the first time? I must be crazy.
The truth is, the music on this album is complex and layered. There's no way to catch all of it with a casual listen or two. Still, some of the songs are too dramatic and broody for my tastes. If you wanna tap into that mood then this album will let you do it.
I still wonder how these guys managed to pull of such fantastic music on their 1st and 2nd albums. Not just great but best-of-the-decade great. I am a fan."

"The "Neon Bible" and "Funeral" albums will give you some of the best music from "Arcade Fire". You are missing out if you haven't seen this group live."
