This wonderful collection of 20 zambas is unbeatable. Ariel Ramirez is a well known composer of Argentine folk music forms--milongas, zambas, etc. He is also a first rank pianist. This CD contains 20 of the most famous zambas, at least one of which, La Tristecita, was composed by Ariel Ramirez. A number of the pieces were composed by Atahualpa Yupanqui. All are expertly arranged and played as instrumentals by Ramirez on piano with a back up traditional rhythm section. On some cuts there seems to be only drums but others have a bass or a rhythm guitar. One cut includes a guido.
