Tartini's cure for insomnia

"The Art of Bowing does for the violin what Bach's Goldberg Variations did for the keyboard. A difference is that this melodious CD can easily lull you to sleep. Whether that was planned or not! Unfortunately, this CD's looks are deceiving. With fifty variations it comes across as a dull repetitive work with a bland cover. It is anything but that!I'd like to see someone other than Mr Colliard do this piece for a comparison; similar to the way that the Goldberg Variations have been reinterpeted. For those interested in Tartini, this work is an important cornerstone in his repertoire. His role as an instructor for future generations of violinists began here. It is a solid piece of violin work without the usual flourishs and color one expects from the master violinist.I liked this work enough to buy it again; but then, I'm a hardcore Baroque freak."
