"Art Farmer was one of the greatest trumpet balladeers of all time! Only Miles Davis was his equal. If you don't believe me buy this recording and listen to Art on the tune "Sad To Say." Actually, if you have the chance, buy any Art Farmer recording including this one.....you won't be disappointed. He never played a wrong note; he was a "thinking" soloist even when he was swinging.....and he could swing too! Like pianist Herbie Hancock and guitarist Jim Hall, Art seemed to be ahead of the notes he was playing, carefully constructing his solos in advance, deciding where his solo was going to go and how it would end. This fine CD, recorded live in a club in Japan, also features the phenomenal pianist Geoff Keezer. (At the age of 17 Geoff was a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers!) If that is not recomendation enough listen to him on the tune "Recorda Me." It is sad that this CD seems to be going out of print. Get it while you can!"
