Album DescriptionThis is yet another fabulous Art Farmer album featuring him on the flugelhorn interpreting ballads composed by Michel Legrand ("The Summer Knows") and Burt Bacharach ("Alfie") in lyrical fashion that is his trademark. THE SUMMER KNOWS was recorded in May 12 and 13, 1976 at the Vanguard Studios in New York. He is accompanied by a tight rhythm section, consisting of pianist Cedar Walton, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Billy Higgins. The album has a little bit variety with a mid-tempo Bossanova performance of "Manha de Carnaval" (Morning of Carnival) from the movie BLACK ORPHEUS and a bluesy number "Ditty" penned by Art Farmer himself.
