CD ReviewsThanks Dad! Mark Maj | Lackawanna, NY United States | 08/22/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "My father has played Accordian since he was a very small child. He played in a polka band when he became old enough to play in bars. After hours he would go down town and sit in with the local jazz musicians. My father always had some vinyl of some great player on the turn table most every night while i was growing up. Monk, Diz, Bird, Miles and Art. It may seem funny sounding to you, But Art Van Damme is the king of his instrument and just as great an artist. He could play great ballads like Miles. Dizzying hot upbeat tunes like Bird or foot taping latin beats like Dizzy. I personally am greatful I had a chance to know who he was and am Very glad his work is coming out on CD." ACCORDION ALA MODE Robert Barg | ROCHESTER, N.Y. United States | 01/26/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "I've been a fan of Art VanDamme since the late 1940's.No one can noodle the instrument like Art.For those who'd like more background on accordion find a copy of the Golden Age of Accordion. There's an extensive biography on VanDamme in that book.I have all Art's vinyl recordings. This CD is clean & well recorded. For those that sneer at accordion, listening to this CD might change your mind and make you a fan!" The Career has Ended but the Music Lingers on and on Louis A. Eberhardt | Chicago, Illinois United States | 03/10/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "Sadly Art Van Damme has retired but technology keeps him going. This album is among his best, if only for "Ecstasy," seldom recorded by anyone today for some unexplained reason. And Art can kill all the lingering sounds of polkas and Lady of Spain sounds still punishing your ear drums from yesteryear. If a sixth star were possible, for any of his albums, I would add it."
